End Of The Week Thoughts

I’ve been very busy trying to stop procrastinating and start doing things that need to be done. During my past few years as a Java programmer I have always put off getting my Java certification until now. Finally, I decided to just schedule the exam. In 3 weeks I will be a SCJP. I’m doing this for myself.

During the past few days too I have been considering a nice vacation towards the end of the year. I’m thinking I may visit Australia around Christmas time. It’s the perfect time to visit down under. While everyone here in the northern hemisphere is freezing I will be enjoying the warmth and sun of the great country of Australia.

Social Mapping Service

I was doing my usual browsing the net for all things Java and came across this open source project. This open source application is written entirely in Java and is called AndroidLocation. It is a social mapping service that does far more the serve basic GPS functions.

Here are some of the features of  this application:

  • Know where you are without having a GPS
  • Connect with friends and get alerted where they are nearby
  • Explore places and events recommended by friends
  • Recommend new places
  • Search for stuff to buy in nearby stores
  • It will run on any Cell Phone Provider
  • It will run on any Phone (Blackberry, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile)
  • It will be FREE

For more information visit the AndroidLocation Project Home.
